Module – Organisational Psychology

The module will be delivered in the first semester through synchronous classroom-based delivery and the VIRI classroom as appropriate. The module introduces participants to an understanding of the principles of Organisational Psychology. The teaching of the moduar content will draw upon and relate to leadership and management roles, aspects of entrepreneurial ethos, mentoring and coaching in the workplace and/or customer relationship management as and where relevant, so as to support more specialised modules on these topic areas across the principal and embedded programmes.

Within that context, the module will address the following issues within the period of the semester and will be underpinned by research from the field; Theories of Organisations; Structure and Process in Organisations; Productivity and Effectiveness in Organisations; Effective Communication in Organisations; Complex and Effective Decision-making in Organisations; Judgement and Decision Making; Leadership: Theories and Models; Group Dynamics at Work; Teams, Team Development and Multiteam Systems; Organisational Culture; Planned and unplanned Change in Organisations and Organisational Development; Entrepreneurial aspects of Organisational Psychology; the Psychology of Customer Relations in Organisations; Assessment of Organisational Change; Organisational Change: Facilitators and Inhibitors; Disruptive technologies past and present including impacts of smart technology, digital media and Artifical Intelligence; Organisational Psychology in a Cross-cultural context; Developments of Socio-technical Systems Design; Ecological Aspects of OrganisationalPsychology; Organisational Diagnosis; Organisational Consulting; Strategic Management and Management Interventions; Industrial Democratisation and Industrial Relations; Automation: Socio-organisational Aspects; Transformations to a Market Economy. The module facilitates in-depth analysis Organisational Psychology principles and the relationship between Organisational Psychology and a range of organisational environments. The syllabus provides opportunities for knowledge development while enabling personal reflection in line with professional norms.  This module will be delivered over 12 weeks and will be guided by the following themes across the period.
