Michelle is an accomplished lecturer, author and counsellor with extensive experience. She has worked with ICHAS for a number of years as a lecturer and academic supervisor.

 

With a diverse background in education, management and counselling & psychotherapy, she aims to foster professional competence, theoretical knowledge and personal growth through high-quality teaching which fosters intellectual curiosity, analytical thinking, personal & professional reflection and ultimately client-centred professional practice.

 

Having worked in both the private and organisational sector, Michelle practices from a humanistic-existential integrative approach with diverse client populations, with a special interest also in working with trauma, psychodynamic approaches and the role and use of creativity in the therapeutic space.

 

Michelle’s research interests include the interrelationship between counsellors’ life experiences, self-awareness, skills of reflection, personal development, theoretical knowledge and effective professional practice.

 

Beyond extensive knowledge, passion and commitment to education and mental health, special interests include neurodivergence, social justice, advocacy, family issues, cognitive & behavioural approaches and the role of research in the counselling & psychotherapy profession.

 

B.Ed./   B.A. (L7) (Distinction), B.A. (L8) (1st Class Hons), M.A. (L9) (1st Class Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy/MAPCP.
