The Psychology of Performance: An Introduction to Work and Sports Psychology with Mr Ian Cox​

ABOUT EVENT

This short talk covers the psychological mechanisms relating to performance both at an organisational level and in terms of sports psychology. It includes the application of Positive Psychology, founded by Martin Seligman and explores the psychological components of performance that include intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, emotional proficiency, personality traits and types and the various frameworks and models that can be used to conceptualise and encourage more effective performance in both domains.

About the Presenter:

Ian Cox (BSc (Hons), MA) is a psychologist and counsellor based in Co. Wexford. Ian works primarily with young adults at his private practice. Ian graduated from the Open University with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and subsequently received an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy from ICHAS. He is a member of the International Parapsychological Association (MPA) and received a postgraduate diploma from the Koestler Institute in Edinburgh. He divides his time between his private practice and lecturing 2nd & 3rd year students in the theory and application of Psychometrics at ICHAS, Griffith College Dublin.
