Skills & Competencies in Cognitive Behavioural Modalities

This course is specifically designed for nominated Assistant Psychologists in the South Eastern region working with the HSE in Community Healthcare Services. This course will support participants to enhance their knowledge around competencies used in Cognitive Behavioural Modalities.

 

  • Award: ICHAS College Certificate in Skills and Competencies in Cognitive Behavioural Modalities – 5 ECTS (NFQ)
  • Duration: 4 Weeks
  • Start Date: 8th June 2021

 Participants will focus on the central place of the Therapeutic Relationship and the role of the practitioner in supporting and facilitating change and participants will be required to appraise the evidence base for Cognitive Behavioural Approaches. Choosing appropriate therapeutic approaches is fundamental to therapeutic success and positive client outcomes and there is significant evidence for the appropriate use of Cognitive Behavioural approaches. This course will support participants to develop key competencies and skills necessary to engage in CBT practice, from intervention planning and case conceptualisation to evaluation of outcomes and relapse prevention. Likewise, it will facilitate participants to be more informed in terms of their roles in professional practice. On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a College Certificate in Skills and Competencies in Cognitive Behavioural Modalities. This course is a 5 ECTS (NFQ) module from the College’s MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy (CBT Modalities) and will receive a Record of Learning recognising this achievement.

Course Content will include:
Cognitive Conceptualization Identifying Cognitive Distortions and Thinking Errors Cognitive Restructuring
Treatment Planning in CBT Working with  Core Beliefs Imagery in CBT Approaches
Evaluation and Assessment Competencies Identifying and Modifying Intermediate Beliefs Homework and CBT
Structuring Therapeutic Sessions Therapeutic approaches to thinking errors/negative automatic thoughts Termination and Relapse Prevention

This course is specifically designed  for nominated Assistant Psychologists in the South Eastern region working with the  HSE in Community Healthcare.

  • Utilises “Blended Learning”
  • Benchmarked against European Association of Counselling Training Standards (2015)
  • Designed for learners who wish to develop their Skills & Competencies in Cognitive Behavioural Modalities for professional development.
  • Successful completion of this programme means the participant will have completed 5 ECTS on the National Framework of Qualifications.
