Living in the Present: Harnessing Mindfulness for Anxiety and Mood Improvement with Christine Beekman
ABOUT EVENT
Mindfulness relates to the practice of awareness on what is happening in the moment, rather than being drawn into the past or projecting negative and limiting beliefs into the future, anticipating problems that may never happen. Just like we have to accept that we are not able to change the weather, we learn to also accept the challenges that life brings and do the very best we can to live through it. Mindfulness teaches new and constructive ways of dealing with day-to-day issues and challenging life experiences. Combined with cultivating specific qualities of self, mindfulness can be helpful in enhancing cognitive, emotional and physical wellbeing. This short talk will focus on a mindful way of self-managing anxiety-related issues and will address some techniques that might be beneficial for mastering excessive worry and managing low mood
