This MA in Work-Related Psychology will allow learners to understand the principles of Work-Related Psychology, which is an evolving area of influence in psychological studies, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of work life, and to protect and promote the safety, health and well-being of workers. Â In todays rapidly evolving work landscape, understanding human behaviour is an essential component for creating thriving workplaces and maximising productivity.
This programme is exclusively designed for those who can demonstrate that they satisfy the eligibility requirements for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland or the British Psychological Society. Undertaking the programme will support learners to achieve the competencies, knowledge and skills necessary to understand individual, organisational, social and cultural influences on behaviour in work-related settings.Â

The ICHAS M.A. in Work Related Psychology enables you to gain an advanced understanding of the core principles of Work-Related Psychology, Organisational Psychology, and Human Resources Psychology, while equipping you with the expertise to address critical challenges faced by organisations. You will have the opportunity to study two elective modules to gain in depth knowledge of a variety of specialised areas such as: Change and Teamwork, Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Business Innovations, Learning Methods, Engagement and Wellbeing in the Workplace, and Customer Relationship Management. (See the Structure section for more details). Psychology applied within a work context is a fascinating and growing area offering numerous opportunities in new or existing employment.
You’ll also develop your critical analytical skills and your understanding of the principles driving different research methods. By completing this qualification you’ll be able to source, select and review Work-Related Psychology research independently, evaluate its relevance for complex real life issue/cases, assess its validity and clearly communicate your findings to a range of audiences.
Who is this course for?
The M.A. in Work-Related Psychology is designed to accommodate psychology graduates to achieve higher order knowledge, skills and competence in Work-Related Psychology and will be of interest to Psychology graduates wishing to pursue careers as Business psychologists, Human Resource Managers, Trainers, Managers and Consultants.
The M.A. in Work Related Psychology curriculum will equip students with the latest research and practical skills to foster a positive work environment, enhance team dynamics and boost overall productivity.
Course Delivery
This course can be taken over 1 year on a full-time basis or 2 years on a part-time basis.
Full time programme (0ver 1 year)
The full time programme can be taken as either a daytime (3 days per week) programme or an evening programme taught using blended learning technologies allowing students to attend class in person or via live online classes. Lectures occur 1 evening a week from 6pm-9pm and on approximately eight Saturdays per semester, 9:30am-4:30pm.
Part time programme (over 2 years)
The part time option allows students to complete their studies over two academic years, spreading the modules over 5 academic semesters and is delivered on a blended basis giving the students the option to attend class in person or via live online classes.

Learners on the M.A. in Work Related Psychology programme are required to complete 90 ECTS (as outlined above) over the one academic year on the full time basis and over two year on a part time basis. For further details on module content please click on the individual module links above.
Students who wish to exit the M.A. in Work-Related Psychology with the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Work Related Psychology will complete all modules of the principal programme with the exception of the Dissertation Module.
Who Awards My Qualification?
On successful completion of the programme, your qualification is awarded by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). QQI is one of the principal Irish awarding bodies for 3rd level education in Ireland and sets the standards for awards on the NFQ. Where Can I progress to on completion of the course?
On successful completion of the M.A. in Work Related Psychology , learners will be qualified to access Level 10 Programmes on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).
Entry Requirements & Selection Criteria
- Applicants must hold a relevant Level 8 programme (BA (Hons) or a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at a minimum of a 2.2 standard.
- All applicants are required to be over 23 years of age
- The minimum English language proficiency requirement for this programme is B2+ in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages which is equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.5.
- All applicants will be required to have a minimum of ordinary-level maths at Leaving Certificate standard or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency in maths at this level.
- International students will be free to apply, such applicants will have to provide evidence that they can satisfy the eligibility requirements for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland or the British Psychological Society as well as demonstrate they meet the visa requirements for study in Ireland.
Career Progression
Graduates of a programme dedicated to Work-Related Psychology are ideally equipped to play a role in supporting employees and employers to ensure healthy work environments. Therefore, studying on this programme for any of these awards should be attractive to those wishing to develop careers as specialist Work and Organisational Psychologists or Business Psychologists in a range of work-related contexts. Clearly, eligibility to do so will be contingent on achieving professional membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland and/or the Association for Business Psychology.Â
Professional Accreditation of the Programme
The MA in Work-Related Psychology is designed to accommodate the educational needs of psychology graduates who meet the eligibility criteria for graduate membership of Association of Business Psychology, making graduates eligible for recognition and membership of the ABP as Business Psychologists. and who wish to add to their portfolio of qualifications.
The Programme was benchmarked against the Programme Criteria for Work and Organisational Psychology programmes with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) but has not yet been presented to the PSI for programme recognition towards membership of their Work & Organisational Psychology Division.
This progrmme is offered on a full-time and part-time basis with a range of options around the payment of tuition fees, with monthly payment plans available to learners.

Protection of Enrolled Learners’ Policy. All QQI accredited programmes of education and training of 3 months or longer duration are covered by arrangements under section 65 (4) of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 whereby, in the event of the provider ceasing to provide the programme for any reason, enrolled learners may transfer to a similar programme at another provider, or, in the event that this is not practicable, the fees most recently paid will be refunded.
