SUSI Grant Campaign Latest Update
SUSI Grant Campaign Latest Update. Thank you for your support in our students’ campaign to get equal access to SUSI funding. We would like to update you on how the campaign is progressing. In recent months, we have undertaken a protest to the SUSI HQ, a picket outside the Department of Education and Skills and held a meeting with the Minister’s Secretary. During this time, the students have contacted a large number of TDs in the Dáil, receiving over 40 replies and letters of support. Parliamentary Questions were asked to the Minister for Education by Róisín Shortall TD, Joe Carey TD, John Browne TD and further meetings were held with Billy Kelleher TD and Minister Joe Mc Hugh TD.
Making the case to local public representatives has been very important and it has been heartening to see their support for our cause. It has resulted in the students leading the Wake Up SUSI campaign being invited to meet senior civil servants at both the Department of Education and Skills and the Department of Public Expenditure in recent weeks. We believe that a pilot proposal is on Minister Richard Bruton’s desk for approval.
This progress would not have been possible without your support. Please continue to support us by getting family and friends to sign the petition and email your local TD (firstname.lastname@example.org) to make them aware of the current inequality regarding access to SUSI funding.
