As a student, you want to know that the college you are going to and the course you are considering is quality assured. Quality and Qualifications Ireland has overall responsibility for Quality Assurance procedures in the non-university and Institutes of Technology sector in Ireland. ICHAS has agreed its quality assurance procedures with QQI and these are reviewed on an on-going basis. This agreement with QQI and the mechanisms within it for reviewing and maintaining quality are your guarantee of the quality of the programmes you are considering.
As part of our quality assurance procedures and in line with QQI guidelines, ICHAS programmes are reviewed on a five year cycle to ensure they are fit for purpose. All our programmes in counselling and psychotherapy were reviewed in 2015. Most importantly of all these programmes were reviewed against the new national standards developed in 2014 by QQI for counselling and psychotherapy in Ireland. All our programmes successfully completed the programmatic review process and we have become the first college in Ireland to meet these new counselling & psychotherapy standards. Meeting these new standards will greatly enhance the eligibility of our graduates for statutory regulation once it comes into place as indicated by government.
The College seeks to continuously improve on the quality of programmes delivered to learners, and quality is central to all we do at ICHAS. We review all our systems on an on-going basis, a process that involves all those in the college including our student body. ICHAS recognises that a key part of retaining public confidence in its activities is through providing evidence of the college’s ability to be self-critical and to evaluate its progress and activities and every five years we are subject to a full institutional review by QQI which involves both a national and international panel of experts.
