Virtual Cheque Presentation to PIETA House
ICHAS recently ran training with the Dublin/Mayo brand of the Irish Guidance Counsellors, as part of the programme the fees were waived and instead donated to PIETA House. The cheque was recently presented in an online event on behalf of ICHAS by Roisin Taaffe to Joe Burke, Fundraising Executive for Pieta House.
PIETA House provides a free therapeutic approach to people who are in suicidal distress and also to those who engage in self-harm. As with many organisations the last twelve months has seen a big change in how they provide their therapy services with the move to online and phone. It’s a move that counsellors across the country have had to make and we here at ICHAS are looking to help them with by running a range of courses to help with technologically facilitated therapeutic engagement. PIETA House has also been running workshops for organisations across the country to help staff in the current climate.
PIETA House and Darkness Into Light
PIETA House is synonymous with Darkness Into Light. Like many other organisations their fundraising efforts have been impacted in the last 12 months and it has also resulted in them adapting this year’s event. For DIL 2021 they are asking supporters to don their yellow t-shirts and take part in the event at a time and in a location that suits them.
They have added a creative element that lets you choose either to walk, swim, bike or simply share your sunrise moment. Or, you can take part in the Darkness Into Light Challenge where participants can get creative with their activity. This will be taking place on the morning of 8th May.
It was great to talk to the team at PIETA during the presentation and we look forward to collaborating with them over the forthcoming months.
